Jilly Arrives

I’ve frequently said to people, “I’m a Jill of all trades” and none moreso lately as the many chapters in my life expand – from A & W and Boston Pizza waitress, hotel clerk, then to RN staff nurse/instructor and then grad student at 50-something (!), and now, independent Writing Coach consultant and freelancer. I’ve been through many career changes but the most joy I find is in the creative. For me, that’s writing and cooking. And sewing, but I can’t go into that here.

“Jilly” came to me in the Florida Keys and she’s been my alternate ever since. She keeps popping in with sprunky ideas – to write, to cook, to sew, to travel, to needlework (yes, that’s a verb tonight).

This past week Jilly has ventured into creating a blog where you’ll find some delicious recipes of basic good food to put on the table or share with friends and family. A friend once said you should always be cooking from your heart and since many of the recipes to follow have a story, I hope you’ll see the heart in all of them.

AKA Jilly

  1. Good for you going for all that! Life’s to short to be stuck doing one thing and call it a profession. I say I am a professional “experimentist” yes that word exists in my vocab. Anyway, I wanted to stop by to say thanks for following my blog. I will stop by ofetn to see what you’re up to. Take care.

  2. Meeting some new people through my blog has been a lot of fun. Nice to hear from you, fellow Experimentist! Hope all goes well for you, too.

  3. OMG we could be twins! I’ve said the same thing about being a Jill of All Trades for years…as well as being called the Shell Answer Woman 🙂 Currently a consultant…were we seperated at birth?!?!?!

So glad I’ve stumbled onto your blog!

    • That’s me for sure – just a dilletente, expert of none. I like your web site – some great ideas. It’s so nice to hook up with people who love to cook. Thanks for dropping by!

  4. I have an excellent courier for my transcription business and he’s told me about his wife who cooks…I am a writer, too. My blog is below, hope you connect, Colleen aka Jilly.

  5. Appreciate that you have an excellent courier for your business.
Glad you dropped by my blog.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  7. The bird is in the oven at 9:20 AM. It’s going to be a feast for sure. Thanks for checking out my blog. I just do this for the fun of it:)

  8. Colleen I’m trying to follow your blog but the RSS button just gives me a page of html coding. Thanks for following mine.

    • Hi Veronica – haven’t been on my blog for months – hit some kind of snafu. Resolved recently with switching to Chrome. Hope you can read the blog now. Thanks for checking in.
